Information You Provide
When you use Portional, you may provide us with:

- Food Logs: Foods you log, including meal types, portions, and timestamps
- Weight Entries: Weight measurements you manually record
- Water Intake: Daily water consumption logs
- Custom Foods & Recipes: Foods and recipes you create within the app
Apple HealthKit Data
With your explicit permission, Portional may read and write data to Apple HealthKit, including:
- Read: Active energy burned, step count, weight, height, date of birth, and biological sex
- Write: Dietary energy consumed, weight entries, and water intake
Important: HealthKit data is stored locally on your device and in your personal iCloud account if you have iCloud enabled. We do not have access to your HealthKit data, and it is never transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties. HealthKit data is used solely to provide app functionality and is never used for advertising or marketing purposes.
Automatically Collected Information
We may automatically collect:
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting purposes
- Usage Data: Anonymous analytics about app usage to improve the user experience
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Calculate your daily calorie and macro targets
- Display your net calorie balance (consumed minus burned)
- Track your progress toward your health goals
- Sync your data across your devices via iCloud
- Improve the app's features and user experience

Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored locally on your device and synced via Apple's iCloud/CloudKit infrastructure. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
iCloud Sync: If you have iCloud enabled, your Portional data will sync across your devices signed into the same Apple ID. This data is encrypted and protected by Apple's security measures.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
We may share information only in the following circumstances:
- With Your Consent: When you explicitly agree to share information
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our legal rights

- Open Food Facts: For barcode product lookup (no personal data is shared)
- USDA FoodData Central: For nutrition database searches (no personal data is shared)

- Access: Request a copy of the data we have about you
- Delete: Delete your account and all associated data
- Opt-Out: Revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in iOS Settings
- Export: Export your data from the app

Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you delete your account, we will delete your data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.
Children's Privacy
Portional is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
International Users
If you are accessing Portional from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located.
