How do I track my food?
Tap the Meals tab, then tap the + button to add food. You can search our database, scan a barcode, or create a custom food entry.
What are "net calories"?
Net calories = Calories eaten − Active calories burned. This gives you a more accurate picture of your daily energy balance. Portional syncs with Apple Health to get your active calories automatically.
How do I connect Apple Health?
During onboarding, you'll be prompted to grant HealthKit permissions. If you skipped this, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Portional on your iPhone to enable permissions.
Why don't I see my steps or calories burned?
Make sure you've granted Portional access to read from Apple Health. Also ensure your Apple Watch or iPhone is tracking your activity and syncing with the Health app.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through the App Store:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Select Portional
- Tap Cancel Subscription
Can I use Portional on multiple devices?
Yes! Your data syncs via iCloud. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID on all devices and have iCloud enabled for Portional.
How accurate are the calorie calculations?
Calorie targets are estimated using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, which is widely used and generally accurate. However, individual metabolism varies, so you may need to adjust your targets based on your results.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete individual entries by swiping left on them. To delete all your data, you can delete and reinstall the app, or contact us at the email below.
