What are "net calories" and how are they different?
Net calories show the difference between calories you consume and active calories you burn. Most calorie apps give you a fixed daily budget based on estimates. Portional syncs with Apple Health to show your actual calories burned each day, so your workout days and rest days are reflected accurately in your calorie balance.
How does Portional protect my privacy?
Portional stores all your data locally on your device and syncs only through your personal iCloud account. We don't have servers, we don't require accounts, and we literally cannot access your information. Your health data stays completely private.
Why isn't my Apple Health data syncing?
Make sure you've granted Portional permission to access Apple Health. Go to Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Portional and ensure all permissions are enabled. If you denied permissions during onboarding, you can re-enable them here.
How do I sync data across my devices?
Portional automatically syncs via iCloud when you're signed in with the same Apple ID on all devices. Make sure iCloud is enabled in your device Settings and that Portional has permission to use iCloud.
The barcode scanner isn't finding my product. What should I do?
Our barcode database includes millions of products but may not have every item. If a product isn't found, you can use the nutrition label scanner to photograph the nutrition facts, or manually create a custom food entry.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store. Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone, find Portional, and select Cancel Subscription.
Does Portional work on iPad and Mac?
Yes! Portional works on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Your data syncs automatically via iCloud. Note that Apple Health integration is only available on iPhone and Apple Watch.
